Time For A Reset

In the middle of May, I felt like I needed a wellness reset. This encompassed my mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health. Some areas required immediate attention. The initial structure of this time was to set aside 45 days to focus on a list of items I deemed important in each area.
Unbeknownst to me, one of my dear friends also felt this same inclination and prompting from God. She began her own 45-day journey. During one of our recent conversations, we shared about the “reset button” we pressed and noticed this seemed to be a trending theme.
So, as we embark on the second half of the year (we technically still have 7 months), this is a good time to reflect on what you have accomplished thus far and what areas are calling for a reset. This can look different for each of us. Perhaps you need to pick up something you were excited about in January and February that slowly made it to the back burner. Or maybe like me, you need to start moving your body every day.
I made a commitment to walking 3 miles daily in my neighborhood. It is a time when I can think, brainstorm, and pray, all while burning calories! My ideas for this blog often come during these walks. In addition, nature is very soothing and therapeutic for me and my neighbors have beautiful flowers and plants that are meant to be enjoyed and admired. I literally stop and smell the roses!
Setting my intention on this commitment has pushed me out of the door on days when I did not “feel like” walking. However, I did not want to break the promise I made to myself and I was happy I did it in the end.
During this 45-day journey, I have begun to feel a sense of clarity in areas that frankly have felt muddled. This has come from safeguarding my time with God. Our connection to the Source is vital for us to be Audacious Arrows. If God is the archer and we are the arrows, we must remain in His hands. An arrow can’t shoot itself! The Bible also gives us this analogy:
I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me [that is, cut off vital union with Me] you can do nothing. John 15:5 AMP
Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. There is no way we can fulfill our God-given purposes if we are not in a “vital union” with Him. This even speaks to how we approach this reset. I mentioned there were things I found to be important at the beginning of the journey. However, as time elapsed, God began giving me insight and highlighted adjustments to the things I thought were important. I made the necessary shifts.
Our desire should be to prioritize what God wants us to prioritize. He is concerned about every single area of our lives. He cares about the food we eat, the places we go, how we spend our time, how we make money, etc. Are you in alignment with His priorities?
If you feel the nudge to hit the reset button, I encourage you to do it! Take inventory of your life. Have you done the last thing God asked you to do? Has something taken the backburner that should be in the forefront? Are there unresolved issues of your heart that need to be addressed? Have you neglected an important area in your life?
A word of caution. Don’t try to do a ton of things at once. That is a sure way to become discouraged. For example, let’s say you want to pray more. Start with 10 minutes a day instead of saying an hour. You can add more time each day and build up to an hour.
Once you identify the areas you want to focus on, write it down! Map out a realistic goal and go for it. Give yourself grace on the days when you miss the mark. Just keep going. I believe in you. You got this!!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You that You are with me. Highlight the areas in my life that need a reset. Help me to make the necessary adjustments. May my priorities be in alignment with Yours. Show me any areas I have been neglecting that require attention. Show me what You want me to focus on in this season. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Until Next Time,
Live and Love Audaciously!
